Finland Hotels - Hotels in Finland

At 338,000 sq. kilometres, Finland is big. It's the seventh largest European country in area and has an amazing 187,888 lakes and 179,584 islands. A third of the country is north of the Arctic Circle. But despite its proximity to Santa Claus territory (a Finnish football club goes by the name of Santa Claus FC), the country is surprisingly green, with over 70% of the total land area being forested. The vast aquatic network of lakes, rivers and canals makes it a very beautiful place to visit.

Finland is notorious for its darkness - anything up to 22 hours a day during the winter. But during the perpetual daylight of summer, the Finns are in their element. Their mood perks up and they may even take pity on visitors struggling with the language - a descendant of Hungarian which has obviously been influenced by the Scandinavian tendency of creating more tenses than one could ever understand, let alone use.
