Mantua is a town in Lombardy in Italy and the place of Romeo's exile. This very beautiful town was once host to one of the important art collections owned by the resident Gonzaga family and although most of the works are distributed around Europe the patronage of the family is still felt in the town. The centre is draped in four medieval cobbled squares and the most important buildings are the Palazzo Ducale with wonderful frescoes; the Palazzo de Te with erotic and somewhat outrageous frescoes in a mix of Renaissance and post Raphaelite style and the wooden vaulted Palazzo della Ragione.
