Netherlands Hotels - Hotels in Netherlands
Everyone has their own impression of the Netherlands: clogs, windmills, coffee shops, and people who speak better English than even the English themselves. The Netherlands is a highly sophisticated country with a healthy attitude to tourism and a superb public transport system. A trip to the Netherlands is, of course, incomplete without a visit to its capital - Amsterdam - a city stuck in the 1960s, living out a debauched lifestyle of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, yet a city just as famous for its tulips and beautiful canals.
The Netherlands is a flat country, particularly in the north. Much of the land had to be reclaimed from the sea, and a comprehensive collection of dams and dykes was introduced to keep it from being submerged again. The south of the country is slightly different from most people's expectations - the occasional incline masquerading as a hill interrupts the landscape, and the Protestant influence begins to fade. Many here are Catholic, and in that respect are more like the French than the northern Dutch.
Access to the Netherlands from Great Britain and Ireland is both easy and affordable nowadays, with the Channel Tunnel rail-link and the budget airlines. The friendly nature of the Dutch people will make any trip a pleasure. One thing people forget to mention about the Netherlands is the excellence of the Dutch pubs and beers, so make sure you give them a try when you visit.
